Goldsmith Poetry Competition 2015!

Goldsmith Poetry Competition 2015!

Peter Fallon
Made it down to Pallas again this year for the Goldsmith Poetry Competition where Peter Fallon was the judge and guest reader on the day. The winner of the competition was Sighle Meehan with Mike Casey picking up second and myself in third. Hope I got those spellings right! Another person to get a mention there was Anne Connolly all the away from Edinburgh via Northern Ireland. Also talking to Bianca Fachel and partner from Germany. Bianca is a singer songwriter from Brazil. Photos to follow in the next few days. Sighle Meehan, I believe, was the winner of the Poems for Patience in Galway University Hospital this year. The weather was more than a bit blustery but the rain held off most of the time!

RNLI Poetry Anthology/The Sea!

RNLI Poetry Anthology/The Sea!

Cover photograph by Gerry Canning
Art work by Laura de Barra
The Sea is a collection of poems published by Rebel Poetry which as the intro states is the merging of two of the passions of its editor Steve Moore, who is a member of the Skerries RNLI fundraising branch. His poem "Lost To The Sea" is in memory of those who were lost off the Skerries coast and is on page twenty six. It includes a number of stunning photographs and poems that touch on almost every experience of the sea and is well worth getting your hands if only because it's that the crew of each lifeboat is made up of unpaid volunteers. To order a copy of the book log on to Here and some interesting photos to view. Delighted to have a poem included myself "Flat Calm". The President Michael D. leads off with "In The Beginning I" and there are more than a few well know names scattered throughout. Sponsored by the Dublin Port Company, the fundraising is in aid of the RNLI.
